I live on the East Coast, so I tend to be drawn to the big national parks out West. I like to go see landscapes that are completely different than what I see every day. However, it was a good challenge to visit and photograph the Smoky Mountains. In many ways, it resembles my local landscape. But when you spend time and see it as a “visitor”, you start to appreciate the subtle magnificence of the place.
