I thought this was going to be tough for me… I relinquished all control and planning for a National Park trip to others. I didn’t even know the detailed itinerary until we left for the trip. I just showed up with my hiking shoes and camera. It turned out to be very refreshing and fun. We did things I would not have planned… like a guided tour, dinners with real food, time in the town of Banff, and a gondola ride. And I loved everything we did! I could get used to this!
The high Rocky Mountains of Glacier NP and Banff NP are just incredible. They are so majestic and they are just there… everywhere you look. They dominate the landscape in every direction, they impact the weather, and they provide an incredible experience exploring the landscape. I have always said I love the desert and canyons the most, but the high rugged mountains are a very very close second! And while the tours were nice, you must experience the land on foot, slowing down, breathing the air, and looking all around. It was spectacular.
Above The Clouds
As we drove along Going To The Sun Road, we were under a thick early morning cloud cover. But as we gained elevation, we started to see the clouds thin out and soon enough, we emerged above them. This valley was at first, mostly obscured by cloud, but in the space of five to ten minutes it dissipated and we watched the land reveal itself to us.
