There are lands in this country that have witnessed bloodshed and killing in unimaginable scale. Hundreds of thousands of young men died in the Civil War, possibly the worst of all wars as it pitted friend against friend and even brother against brother. There have been wars on these lands for noble causes, like the war for our country’s independence. What do these lands look like today - one hundred and fifty or two hundred years later? Are they like any other landscape we might see and enjoy? Does the earth remember what happened here? Is there an energy that forever marks these lands as somber places? This is the early stage of a possible long term project to explore these lands and see them as they exist today, while remembering what happened here years ago.
